| WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE BEEN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED |
 |
Talk about it with someone you trust. Or, call the Women in Crisis 24 hour line where you can get support. Whether or not you report a sexual assault to the police is your personal decision but, in any case, it is advisable to seek medical care. The important thing is to do something because the feelings don't go away by ignoring them.

PRECAUTIONS
Women are often told not to walk alone, not to go certain places, not to dress in certain ways. These things do not prevent sexual assault but do limit women's freedom and equality. Some good alternatives are:
- take assertiveness training, build self-esteem and claim your right to say NO
- take a self defense course
- educate yourself and those around you about sexual assault and the myths surrounding this crime
- do not blame yourself, no one asks or deserves to be sexually harassed or assaulted
