Guelph-Wellington Women In Crisis Receives $210,100 OntarioTrillium Foundation Grant

GUELPH, ON – On Saturday March 27, 2011, MPP Liz Sandals was pleased to attend the Women In Crisis (WIC) Auction and Dinner to announce that Guelph-Wellington Women In Crisis will be receiving a grant of $210,100 over three years from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). This grant will be used to enhance the organization’s capacity by implementing a comprehensive resource-development strategy that will increase public awareness and donor relations for future sustainability.

  • The mission of Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis is to end all types of violence against women and children. WIC provides support to women and children in Guelph and Wellington County who have experienced, or are experiencing, violence in their lives. WIC’s mandate is to provide free, practical support by providing options to women, information, education about violence and abuse, individual support, group support, as well as accompaniments to court, and referrals. In addition to programs in the community, WIC operates an emergency shelter for abused women.
