About the Sexual Assault Centre
The Sexual Assault Centre works to prevent all forms of sexual violence and inequality. We offer support to survivors and their friends and families. We provide counselling and support groups for women on many different topics. We also give public education workshops and professional trainings for schools and community members. We are located in Guelph and can provide support in person or on the phone.
Our Rural Women’s Support Program also provides support for survivors of sexual assault/abuse who are living in Wellington County.
Support for Survivors and their Friends
The Sexual Assault Centre offers support and counselling to women 16 years of age and older.
We support:
- Women who have experienced woman abuse
- Women who have experienced any unwanted sexual acts and/or attention. This can include: sexual assault, abuse/incest, childhood sexual abuse, stalking, sexual harassment, human trafficking, sexual assault in war, whether recently or in the past
- Family, partners and friends of survivors of sexual assault or woman abuse

- Long-term individual counselling and information appointments (contact us)

- Workshops on selected topics (for example: Emotional Bullying, Boundaries)
- Accompaniments to police, court, hospital and other appointments
- Assistance with criminal injury compensation, victim impact statements
- Advocacy, court preparation, and community referrals
- Sexual harassment support and information
- Support and information for friends, partners, and family of survivors
- Information about sexual assault, sexual harassment, childhood sexual abuse/incest, stalking as well as legal and medical procedures and options
- Access to cultural and language interpretation available
- Public education and professional training
- Practical assistance
- Resource library and other resource materials
- Public education and professional training on a variety of topics
Public Education – Preventing Violence
We work to prevent sexual assault and woman abuse of all kinds through education. We present to schools, community groups, businesses and other organizations. We also offer trainings, workshops and information sessions.
