 Fundraising Specialist

Six month non-unionized contract - 24 hours per week

We are looking for a highly motivated Fundraising Professional to work with, and provide support to, the G-W WIC Fundraising Committee in implementing elements of the annual WIC Fundraising/Marketing Strategy. This newly-created position, reporting to the Executive Director, requires a self-starter who is familiar with good fundraising practices including prospect research (corporate, community and individual), completing proposal development, donor relationship building, stewardship and recognition and committee support.

The individual will be expected to improve and enhance current fundraising initiatives to grow the overall revenue for WIC, as well as develop new opportunities to connect with contributors and donors in the community and beyond.  This professional will also represent the organization in the community at donor events and through other relationship building initiatives, which may include some evening or weekend work.

It is expected that clear and realistic goals for revenue development will be set and achieved

Requisite Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience, with proven results, in fundraising (direct response, major gifts, sponsorship development, corporate partnerships, online, event management)
  • Education or specialized training in fundraising an asset
  • Experience with web-based fundraising as asset
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate and to lead
  • Experience in donor and volunteer relations in key
  • Capacity for developing compelling oral and written communication
  • Proven initiative, creativity and time management skills; ability to work independently to meet deadlines and deliver results
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to issues facing women and children who have experienced woman abuse or sexual violence
  • Well-developed technology skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience in donor managment/database software an asset, particularly Income Manager an asset
  • Ability to travel within Guelph and Wellington County is a requirement
